Private House Newtownards

This was a large replacement house for an existing cottage and outbuildings on a spacious, sloping site overlooking Newtownards.  The client requested a functional, more traditional house form with contemporary styling for open plan living.  The house is orientated to capture the marvellous views and create private, sunny rear garden spaces where large automated sliding doors open to seamlessly link the garden to the interior.  The main block of the house is designed on three levels with a central open core and feature stone chimney through the first two floors, and a chill-out zone on the third floor with a feature all glass viewing dormer. All four bedrooms have dressing areas and en-suites with a guest suite located on the ground floor.  The spacious living, kitchen, dining area links through to a high technology cinema/music room, and a private internal courtyard gives access to the garages and rear hall, utility areas of the house.  A separate drawing room and an open-plan garden room and a private study complete the generous internal accommodation.

All finishes were selected to minimise future maintenance issues.  The exterior of the house is finished in Sto self- coloured, self-cleaning render with grey z-stone feature elements, grey granite and Rheinzinc detailing, Italian light oak timber windows externally finished in polyester coated aluminium, and a natural slated roof.
