Gortin Community Hall

McCarter Hamill Architects Won a Competitive Design Competition in Autumn 2014 to Design and Deliver new Multi Use Community Facilities at Gortin GAA’s site.

The proposed building will act as a hub to various community groups including Gortin GFC, Badoney Ladies GFC, St Patricks Primary School, Local Churches and the greater community to name but a few.

The topography of the site has allowed us to design a split level building with the Multi-purpose Hall (Dance/Sport/Performance), Meeting Rooms, Strength & Conditioning Room, Kitchen, Foyer with Box Office etc at Upper Ground Level and the 4No. Changing Rooms to the Lower Ground Floor Level which is at the Gaelic Football Pitch Level to allow direct access between both. Above the Changing Rooms and access off the Meeting Rooms and Strength and Conditioning Room is a Pitch Observation Balcony which is under cover. The Upper and Lower Ground Floor level both have level access and are linked via a central stairwell and lift.

The Building has been designed so that it can be constructed in 2 phases:

Phase 1: Upper Ground Floor Level – Multi-purpose Hall and ancillary amenities (i.e. Kitchen, Toilets, Stores etc).

Phase 2: Lower Ground Floor Level Changing Room & Strength & Conditioning, Meeting and Pitch Observation Balcony above.

Total Area (both phases)

= 1,286.4m²

= 13,846 SQFT
